Save the Meadows
In the small towns of Grafton, Alexandrea, and Danbury New Hampshire The Wild Meadows Wind Power Project is beginning a public uproar. The Lakes Region which includes these towns, is a beautiful region with lots of breathtaking views. One resident of Grafton said "Here is like no other place in New England. We have remained fairly untouched by industrialization and our forests have mostly stayed unlogged even in this depression we are recovering from." That statement, is soon to be wrong. The Iberdrola windmill company is planing to blast the tops off the mountains in the Wild Meadows area, cut down the trees, and erect 36 windmills that are each 454' feet tall. Besides the windmills being ugly and a hazard to everyone's health who lives up and near the Meadows, the mills will kill bats and many other kinds of animals by destroying the environment. Worried residents are doing whatever they can, as one resident of the Meadows stated, "To try and stop the biggest energy company from ruining our little town..." The new uproar has made it to news papers and other social media like the Union Leader and the Orange, NH independent website (links to both are below).
Other nearby towns are having controversy over Wind Power Plants too, check out some with the following links:
